Goodwill Guide on Kyoto Handicraft
Historical Sites (GGKH)

We voluntarily guide you when you are in Kyoto. It's our pleasure to explore with you the ancient capital of Japan and share the discoveries of its wonder and beauty.

Kyoto has numerous things to offer. Besides many famous historical sites, the time-honored handicrafts are among them. Throughout the past millenium, artisans in Kyoto have handed down the secrets of their arts from generation to generation, enhancing their workmanship to the highest levels, worthy of the elegant, refined taste of court nobles.

Our members have been, more or less, fascinated by the beautiful world of Kyoto handicrafts and interested in learning about this field more deeply. Kyoto's handicraft industries have a broad variety and profound background for each. So, it is not easy to be well versed in any of them in short time. But, it's not our wish to become experts ourselves. We just want to introduce those Kyoto handicrafts to the visitors from abroad and like to talk each other about it and share the beauty of it. This is one of reasons why we are willing to guide you at free of charge.

Nevertheless, we are delighted to guide you the historical sites alone if you like. We are flexible with your request. Refer to the model courses and write down your plan when applying to us so that we could arrange the tour suited to your interest.

Our members are willing to assist you using our language skills of English and Chinese, as well as French and Thai on an availability basis. Please apply at least two weeks in advance.

We, GGKH, are one of Systematized Goodwill Guide (SGG) groups in Kyoto, registered at the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).

We are looking forward to meeting you soon.
